Covering Up On A Rainy Day

A LONE MAN WALKS WITH HIS umbrella beneath the Skytrain track (pictured above) in North Surrey. The persistent rain, wind and unsettling weather conditions make us want to cover up in southwest BC. But no amount of umbrellas can cover up bad news days such as those coming from Japan in the aftermath of the March 11th quake. The mood is gray as natural disasters coupled with manmade errors are making harmful radiation particles seep onto our planet. Sometimes all we can do is shut off troubling thoughts and sad image overload to grasp some joyful moments in the showers as we walk.

  1. You're right. It's too awful, and the thought of it is going to seep into our subconscious minds, but we have to carry on as planned.
Leaving Toronto today and then on our way. E you soon. Hi to all.
    Luv, K

  2. I shall pretend I'm walking with you, dear Penelope...there is nothing in my mind as great as wind-lashed rain...real Coastal rain...to wash away the sad gremlins who have taken over...

  3. So true. Some times you just have to go on as normally as possible. I've made myself not get troubled by the news about radiation. I have not stocked up on any pills that the news is talking about. Things will go on. Yesterday I got soaked in the rain as I had to walk a block during the heaviest downpour. Stopped and had a coffee and tried to dry my jacket under the hand blower :-) Hope you're keeping dry.

  4. It's hard NOT to think of the earthquake, the tsunami and NOW the scare of radiation, isn't it? Fortunately for me, I've had a ton of projects to do and people waiting for me to finish them to help divert my attention. But Japan is ever in the background, it's just too dreadful to totally ignore.

  5. Yes, EG Wow is right. Lest anyone think I'm ignoring what is going on. It is just at the back of mind, rather than top of mind. I pray and think of what I can do in my own sphere without panicking ;-)

  6. Joyful, your compassion shines through and it is hard to imagine you otherwise. Thanks for stopping by with your comment. I agree dwelling on the negatives or panicking serves no purpose. :)

  7. I heard that there's a lot of rain in BC.

Tragedies and disaster like the one in Japan should make us stop and think rather than stick our heads in the sand. But I do agree, we also need to see the beauties of the world, of which, I believe, you have your fair share.
