"Where flowers bloom so does hope." - Lady Bird Johnson
"Flowers are restful to look at. They have neither emotions nor conflicts," said Sigmund Freud. Although that is likely correct, they inspire emotions. The cut and painted flowers brought the hope of spring and warmth to a home I visited recently. Meanwhile, icicle flowers (above) were quietly forming, as they often do in February outside my own home, reminding me it's still chilly. Expecting snow to knock at my door at any moment, I was instead surprised when a bountiful hand-delivered bouquet of flowers came calling.

I had to look twice at those icicles to recognize they are real! A great perspective to look at them as flowers ... I gaze at the ones hanging from my roof and worry they are going to pull the gutters off!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers!
ReplyDeleteA vase of tulips is a beautiful sight. I just wish they would last longer. Those icicles are truly amazing.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty to warm up a heart in winter.
ReplyDeleteWow, lovely flower shots and that box is pretty. We do need color in the winter, being gray and drab for this time year.
ReplyDeleteLovely collection. Color is so welcome in late winter (or so I remember from when we lived all year up there in the Pacific Northwest ...) I would take that vase of roses with joy even here in Florida where there IS outdoor color though!!
ReplyDeleteHello, Penelope! I’m back to blogging. The bright colors and sweet scents of flowers cheer up and warm up our heart. I like the floral patterned can beside the flower vase and the box with a ribbon. The icicle flower is striking and I can almost smell the flowers of the last image.
ReplyDeleteYoko
Just came back to say thank you for the latest batch of postcards over on your other blog! I always smile both at the pictures and the perfect titles (one would think they were sent by a professional wordsmith ;>)...)
ReplyDeleteThe quote from Lady Bird Johnson is interesting. I remember driving through Texas once and the edges of the highways were a riot of colour and all the plants were native species, reintroduced into appropriate habitat - all instigated by the former president’s wife.
ReplyDeleteFlowers in winter are proof that true beauty perseveres...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots of flowers in winter. I also enjoyed your shots on your other blog.
