Bus, Bed & Boys At Davis Bay

MY SUMMER MEMORIES are a nice break from the winter chill and happen to contain several words beginning with the letter “B”. While driving to my brother's home in Sechelt last August, we saw various creative seating options at bus stops on the highway. The office chair is one of my favorites.

Along the way we also saw a bed planted in the front yard of a Bed & Breakfast establishment.

There was no vacancy. But across the street there was another spontaneously placed chair by a bus stop with a view of Davis Bay.

Davis Bay is a small waterfront town in the District of Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast. By most accounts, the sun does shine a little brighter in this part of the mainland accessed by large ferries that transport vehicles and people along the Gulf of Georgia to difficult-to-reach havens in southwest British Columbia.

You would think the sea was no more than an oversized bathtub to play in the way these boys gleefully leapt off the wharf with fearless abandon. The boy (above) was a second away from taking a backward splash into the bay.

  5. Nothing better than a well placed seat. The bed is interesting, I've seen a lot of unusual objects planted up but that is a first.

  13. Nice letter B post! Our colder winter than usual has gotten much colder today. The warmth and brightness brought by you, Penelops, is a help. I like a waterfront town and I’d like to have a break on that bench at the Bay feeling the sea breeze. You show that you’re good at finding somewhat weird things from time to time. Stay warm.

  15. I like the creative use of seating at the bus stops. And the bed frame in the garden. Sunshine coast is a beautiful setting for sure. For some reason your blog did not show up on my list of blogs. Will look into it. Was wondering why you have not posted any new ones since last week. Hope all is well with you.

  17. I love those whimsical seating options. I don't know how the kids play for hours in the ocean, to me it is so darn cold.

  18. Hello Penelope,

I don't know why, but this post didn't show up at the side of my "favourite blogs" list. That office chair is priceless, and the bed is a very creative way of advertising one's bed and breakfast. What a good idea to go back to warmer days, and remember that they will soon be here again. My first cherry blossom sighting, believe it or not, was on January 10th. It's been a bit gloomy lately, but that will just make us appreciate the good times ahead all the more :)
